Last year was a year of change and learning for me. So many seeds planted and ready for sprouting and growing. This year is set to be a year of growth. And growing is hard work. So it looks like I won’t be getting a rest any time soon!

Here’s what we’ll be growing this year:

My business:
I just received my certification as a Hypnobirthing Australia Practitioner. Approximately 16 months after I started on this journey, the first stage will be over and I will be able to offer the Hypnobirthing Australia course to local couples. I’m nervous and excited and slightly terrified.

So excited to be certified my certificate is in the mail

I have also signed another doula client and will be attending my second certifying birth. I’m planning to be a certified doula by June…if I can get all the study done between the business stuff!

As with any growth, there will be the hard bits…the digging and mulching and fertilising or in this case the webpage design, marketing strategies and moving out of my comfort zone. I am anticipating that it will ALL be worth it!

My birth activism (aka: The Maternity Care Revolution):
As part of our quest for better maternity care for the women of Australia, I’ve just launched Birthing Revolutions Australia’s first campaign! And it seems to be gathering interest. We also have plans for a campaign each month up until June. I also have plans to grow my writing – increasing my blog exposure and also a book is on the horizon. Planning to break into some mainstream outlets as well and acquire a wider audience. Really looking forward to reaping the benefits of my growth in this area.

My learning:
Learning and growth really do go hand in hand – if you’re not learning then you’re not growing. My doula studies are continuing, I will be learning more and more about growing my business, I have a couple of professional conferences to attend, I plan to learn more about making a webpage and I’m sure other professional learning opportunities will be accessed during the year.

My health and wellbeing:
Only the healthy seedlings bear fruit. My health goals for this year involve: continuing with my personal training to build my strength and endurance; getting my coeliac disease under control (trust me: going gluten free is not as easy as it sounds!); improving my iron levels; meditating regularly; doing more of the things that make me whole and happy.

The strawberry plants that Im hoping will give me some berries soon

My garden:
I’m so looking forward to experimenting in my garden this year! So many things to grow – so little space to grow them in. At the moment I’ve got brazillian spinach, peanuts, basil, mint, chilli, capsicum, peas, pineapples and sweet potato. I can’t wait to get more tomatoes and pumpkins going and see what my ginger and garlic have been doing. I’m also hoping to grow, rather than kill, some strawberries.

My family:
This year my little people will turn 4 and 2 – I can’t believe it! They are growing so fast. My daughter is no longer a toddler, but a real person and my baby is fast moving through the toddler stage. And we are planning that we will be well on our way to growing a new little person later this year!

My little people growing so fast.

Which I guess means that my “year of rest” is a long way off yet!
