I disagree with just one of your answers.
I firmly believe to give credit where credit is due. Therefore:
At home, the woman delivers the baby herself... by her own power!
usually, the dad catches (I tell them, he put it in, he should get to take it out. I'm their for moral & perineal support). Okay, off my soapbox.
But also have to comment, on the "what if SOMETHING happens" Your answer is to go to the hosp. Which is sometimes the right answer. But most often the best answer is "deal with it". Midwives know how to handle most emergencies at home, only the most serious would need hosp. transfer. Some people even think cord around the neck is an emergency. Its not, it's easily dealy with at home, as are most SDs, resus's & pphs.
Megg, Love that you are so matter of fact! It's amazing that MOST women do not realize that they have been enslaved by a system that has convinced them that someone outside of themselves knows better than they about how to manage their bodies. Have you heard of Stockholm syndrome. Maybe you can write about it.....I've had women get pissed off at me when I suggest they have a choice in how they experience birth.
